Winter warming woolshed

I know its not winter here in New Zealand, but I thought I’d post this as its a mulled gin recipe and I’ve always associated mulled drinks with Christmas…. so ’tis the season and all that.

This recipe is so simple to make… the measurements are guides only… taste regularly and add more honey to sweeten the mulled apple or more ginger and cinnamon to spice it up, what is the most important ingredient is the right gin… naturally.

Firstly, lets make the mulled spiced apple which you will add to the WOOLSHED gin.

In a saucepan pour in 1 litre apple juice, add the peel of one orange and one lemon, two cinnamon sticks (broken up) 1 tablespoon of freshly grated ginger. Add 2 generous tablespoons honey when the apple is hot, taste and adjust if needed. This mixture can be made a day in advance so the flavours can intensify.

In a whisky glass add 50mls woolshed gin, strain the mulled apple and add approximately 100-120mls mulled spiced apple. Garnish with a slice of dehy lime and slice of apple and enjoy… deliciously simple.
