To the contrast of our quiet winter season, the award season results have been anything but quiet. As mentioned before I do like to enter competitions as it keeps things real, up to date and on my toes making sure that I stay in tune to good honest gin making…
The season started off with a BRONZE for my Woolshed gin from the IWSC… a great start… and it just got better from there. Dish magazine gave the Woolshed gin a SILVER, followed by the NZ small batch gin awards where my Shearwater gin received a GOLD and the Woolshed a BRONZE and this then was closely followed up with this years NZ spirit awards right here in Aotearoa where my new spirit.. raspberry liqueur made right here on the farm with our organic raspberry’s scooped a GOLD straight up, my Shearwater gin a SILVER and Woolshed a BRONZE… how super proud of what I do, do I feel right now.
With lambing well underway, my attention turns to the farm and helping the family especially when we get little weather nasty’s making for some very cold lambs to be warmed and fed up. But it wont be long before spring is hear and gin season is upon us again.. with plenty planned through to Christmas theres never any let up… but thats the way I like it.
So hears to raising a glass of some award winning spirits to this season and toasting to spring where theres a bumper load of fun to be had. Thank you for your support.
